Brooklyn in a Weekend

It’s honestly funny that it took me this long to make it over the bridge from NYC into Brooklyn. I grew up about 2 hours from the city so went to Manhattan countless times growing up. I was shocked how much I loved spending a weekend in Brooklyn though! We came to the area for a wedding and didn’t even make it into Manhattan, which was definitely a first. I am by no means an NYC native or expert, but wanted to give you guys a little glimpse of this magical little (but really not so little) borough of New York City.  I highly recommend spending some time here for a few days!

Welcome to Brooklyn!

Food Recommendations:

Ignazio’s Pizzeria: my husband has recently become obsessed with Dave Portnoy’s pizza reviews, so obviously made us visit 3 pizza spots for “snacks” during our stay. Ignazio’s was definitely my favorite! I highly recommend grabbing a slice and going to sit along the water in DUMBO.

DUMBO area food: we loved Atrium DUMBO and Almar for brunch.. Cecconi’s Dumbo restaurant is great for food too.

Time Out Market + Dekalb Market: Both of the markets have endless food options for everyone! It was a dairy free girl’s dream! We also had to grab a New York bagel while here! There are some small shops scattered throughout, so visiting either (or both) of these markets is a fun activity for a few hours, just make sure you go hungry!

Things to Do:

Besides for the markets which I already mentioned, Brooklyn offers plenty of things to keep you busy!

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

Take a photo on Washington street! You get a cool view of the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. If you walk up the hill away from the Bridge slightly, there are less people so its much easier to take a photo!

Walk along the water in DUMBO.

Go shopping in Williamsburg: I was obsessed with the vibes here. It’s very hipster chic if you will. I can easily occupy myself all day, but my two favorite stores are Le Labo and the new Everlane store.

Grab a drink at the Wythe Hotel: you get bomb views of Manhattan and they serve some amazing drinks. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing after a long day of shopping and walking around.

Note: I also highly recommend staying here. The hotel is very unique and also reasonably priced compared to others in the area.

I hope you found this post helpful! Feel free to comment below on any other recommendations!

XOXO,
